XERF comes from Cynosure Lutronic, a North American leader in aesthetic devices, and is one of the newest radiofrequency platforms to reach Canada: cleared by Health Canada in April 2025 — Canada was its North American launch market — and cleared by the U.S. FDA the same year.
It is the world's first multi-frequency monopolar radiofrequency system. Conventional monopolar RF works at one frequency and one depth; XERF delivers dual frequencies of 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz simultaneously in a single shot — the higher frequency treating shallower tissue, the lower penetrating deeper, as far as the SMAS fascia layer — selectively heating the fibrous septa so collagen contracts and remodels over time. That is structural tightening, not surface warming. Three depth settings and ten intensity levels combine per area and per skin profile, and Wave Fit™ pulse technology spreads energy across multiple pulses for a steadier, more even rise in temperature.
No numbing cream is needed: Integrated Cryogen Delivery (ICD) cooling plus five sensors monitoring temperature in real time protect the skin surface throughout.
